Pathogenesis Analysis

Spleen and stomach deficiency and coldness are the main cause of the various symptoms treated by Lizhong Wan. Simply put, spleen and stomach deficiency and coldness means that our digestive system becomes weak and cold, which will lead to a series of uncomfortable symptoms.

Detailed explanation

  1. Insufficient middle Yang, cold arises from within:

    • Our spleen and stomach need Yang to stay warm and function properly. When Yang is insufficient, coldness is generated from the inside, just like our body loses its internal warmth and becomes cold.

  2. Yang deficiency and loss of temperature, cold stagnation:

    • When the Yang Qi is insufficient, the body's warmth also decreases, which causes cold Qi to stagnate in the body. Stagnation of cold Qi makes us feel particularly cold, with cold limbs, and even a constant dull pain in the stomach, which is relieved by warmth and pressure.

  3. The spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation and raising the clear, while the stomach is responsible for receiving and lowering the turbid:

    • The spleen is responsible for converting the essence of food into nutrients needed by our body and transporting these nutrients throughout the body. The stomach is responsible for receiving and digesting food. When the spleen and stomach are weak and cold, these functions will be abnormal, causing us to feel bloated, not want to eat, and even vomiting and diarrhea.

  4. Abnormality of the ascending and descending of the digestive system, resulting in abdominal distension, loss of appetite, vomiting, and loose stools:

    • When the spleen and stomach are not functioning properly, we will feel bloated, lose our appetite, and even vomit and have diarrhea. This is because the spleen and stomach cannot properly digest and absorb food.

  5. A pale tongue with moist white coating, no thirst, and a deep and weak pulse are all signs of deficiency and cold:

    • These symptoms include a pale tongue, a white and moist tongue coating, no thirst, and a weak or slow pulse. These are all manifestations of body coldness.
